Porthluney Cove Beach

Description:
Porthluney Cove is a large sandy beach close to Caerhays Castle & Gardens. Facilities are close to the beach and there is easy access to the beach. There is a large expanse of sand at low tide.
Safety:
Signs warn of strong undercurrents and not to use inflatables. There is a risk of getting cut off at high tide. No lifeguards. See Beach Safety Guide.
Access:
The Porthluney car park is right by the beach and from the car park there are sandy paths to the beach which are level.
Dogs:
Dogs allowed all year at Porthluney Cove.
Directions:
Porthluney Cove is about 9 miles from St Austell. At St Austell take the B3273 for Mevagissey. Shortly after Pentewan turn right on the Gorran Haven road. At the hamlet of Gorran Highlanes turn right onto the road to Caerhays. Follow this road through the hamlet of Rescassa. Continue on this road and at the next junction turn right (signposted to Caerhays) and follow the road to Caerhays Castle.

Parking:
1 large car park by Porthluney Cove Beach but this is also used by visitors to Caerhays Castle & Gardens. Note the car park is now pay and display with cameras and there are many reports of visitors being fined £100 for over staying by just a few minutes.
