Praa Sands Beach

Location:
West Cornwall.
Description:
Praa Sands Beach is a huge sandy beach popular with families and surfers. Facilities and parking are right by the beach at Praa Sands. There is good coast path walking both east and west of Praa Sands. Update 2023, it is reported that the toilets are closed and there are two portable toilets which are in a poor state.
Safety:
Lifeguards on duty. Warning signs warn of strong undercurrents, deep shelving at high tide, risk of falling rocks and not to use inflatables. See Beach Safety Guide.
Access:
At the first car park there are steps to the beach which are unsuitable for disabled access. Past the first car park, there are 3 small car parks and the road here becomes a slipway to the beach. There are also steps down to the beach from the coast path about mid way along the beach and also at the eastern end of the beach.
Dogs:
Dogs are banned on Praa Sands Beach from 1st July to 31st August (10am to 6pm).
Directions:
Praa Sands is 24 miles from Truro and 5 miles from Helston. From Helston drive west on the A394 for about 5 miles. At Germoe Crossroads, turn left for Praa Sands (signposted to Praa Sands). Follow this road down to Praa Sands. Alternatively drive east on the A394 from Marazion.

Yes, near the Praa Sands slipway but currently closed (2023).

Beach shops, café, restuarant at Praa Sands.
