Portloe can be difficult to find and there are a number of routes through the country lanes. Portloe is 10 miles from Truro and 12 miles from St Austell. Aproaching from the east or west on the A390 about 4 miles east of Truro turn onto the A3078 for St Mawes. Continue on the A3078 past Tregony and Ruan High Lanes and and shortly after Ruan High Lanes turn left for Veryan (signposted to Veryan and Portloe). In Veryan, turn left and then by The New Inn, turn right (signposted to Portloe). Keep on this road and then at a cross roads go straight across (signposted to Portloe) and continue on this road to Portloe.
