Description:
Swanpool Beach is a small but popular sand and shingle beach on the southern edge of Falmouth. There is a café on the beach and a car park over the road from the beach, with level access to the beach. Behind the beach is a small lake which is popular with birds such as swans, ducks and coots.
Safety:
Signs warn of strong currents, not to use inflatables when the wind is strong, risk of getting cut off by the tide, also beware of water craft and do not bathe when the sea is rough. See Beach Safety Guide.
Access:
There is level access to Swanpool Beach from the car park and facilities are close by.
Dogs:
Dogs are banned on Swanpool Beach from 1st July to 31st August (10am to 6pm).
Directions:
Falmouth is about 10 miles from Truro. From east or west take the A390 to Truro and at Truro follow the directions for Falmouth on the A39. Keep on the A39 to Falmouth and follow the A39 around Falmouth. On the A39 turn right at a mini roundabout (signs to "Beaches") on to Pennance Road. Then take the 2nd right (signposted to Swanpool) and follow this road (Swanpool Hill which becomes Swanpool Road) down to Swanpool Beach. It is also possible to walk from Gyllyngvase Beach to Swanpool Beach.
